An Unorthodox Law is a Law that is randomly generated by the game, and is not one of the Supreme Laws. A Player Cultivator should never choose to cultivate an Unorthodox Law due to their inferior properties and lack of Law Exclusive benefits. Instead, their Unorthodox Manuals can be used to augment the effectiveness of a Supreme Law by learning their Unorthodox Manuals.

Unorthodox Laws can be obtained with Soul Inquiry on a dying Invader, by converting an Invader with a Miracle such as Incantation of Consonance, or by purchasing them from Sects.

Law Level[]

The power of the Unorthodox Law is determined by the practitioner's Cultivation Level. Most Unorthodox Laws do not allow for Ascension, and in these cases, their power determines the maximum Cultivation Level that a practitioner of said law can achieve.

Laws purchased from a Sect are either of the Primordial Spirit or Ascension variety.

Law Element[]

Random Unorthodox Laws from Invaders are 19% each of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, and 5% None element[1].

Law Matching[]

Like Supreme Laws, Unorthodox Laws have a Law Match based on the Five Attributes, which is generated randomly. Due to the properties of calculating Law Match, in general the higher the Law Level, the lower the Law Match values achievable.

Each Unorthodox Law requires 1-2 random "Major Attributes" and 1-2 random "Minor Attributes"[1]. For example, an Unorthodox Ascension Law may require 8 PER and 7 CON (Major) and 5 LUK (Minor).

Law Specialization[]

An Unorthodox Law always specializes in one of Artifact Mastery, Spell, or Protect. The specialization means that more unorthodox Manuals from that specialization will be present in the law.

Law Breakthroughs[]

The Bottleneck Breakthroughs for Unorthodox Laws are also randomly generated.

Each Stage may have 1 bottleneck (50%), 2 bottlenecks (30%), 3 bottlenecks (15%) and 4 bottlenecks (5%).

Each of these bottlenecks below Golden Core are either a standard breakthrough (75%) or an exploration breakthrough (25%).

At Golden Core and above, each of these bottlenecks are a standard breakthrough (60%), exploration breakthrough (20%), Outer Disciple breakthrough (10%), or Tribulation breakthrough (10%).

Additionally, if the Stage is at Cultivation Level 7, 9, or 12, it will always be a Tribulation breakthrough. All Tribulation breakthroughs start between 2500-8100 seconds (4.17-13.5 in-game days) after the bottleneck is reached.

The Tribulation Power depends on the Cultivation Level of the bottleneck:
