Mentors are Xiandao cultivators who are teaching their disciples the way of cultivation. Mentors improve the progress of their disciples by increasing the Cultivation Speed of their disciple[1], and by lowering the Inspiration costs when teaching them Manuals they know about. Each Mentor can have up to 8 disciples[2], but each disciple can only have one Mentor. Besides death or rebirth, there is no way to change a mentor.
Cultivation Speed[]
A number of values determine the effectiveness of the Mentor[3].
- Law of the Mentor and the Disciple:
- Practicing the same law as the Mentor: +5 (1.5x Cultivation Speed Multiplier, stacks multiplicatively)
- Different law: +3 (1.2x Cultivation Speed Multiplier, stacks multiplicatively)
- Element of the laws do not affect this multiplier.
- The Mentor must have a higher Cultivation Level than the Disciple or have more Cultivation points if the Mentor is the same Cultivation Level, otherwise there is no bonus.
- The Mentor must be alive and not be a reanimated Puppet or Zombie, otherwise there is no bonus.
Inspiration[]
The Mentor can teach Manuals they learned, not necessarily to their disciples but it's only worthwile when teaching their disciples:
- Teaching their disciple: 50% Inspiration cost reduction (Attainment cost unchanged)
- Another disciple: 25% Inspiration cost reduction (similar to learning from Manual Pavilion)
The global reduction from the manuals transcribed in the Manual Pavilion still applies, for a maximum reduction of 60% of the Inspiration cost.
Breakthroughs[]
A Mentor can assist the Disciple during a common Breakthrough[4]. In these cases, the Mentor will start cultivating next to the Disciple, which provides the following buffs:
- +5 Base Mental State (
AddV
) - -100% Level of Stable Mental State (
AddP
), which reduces the speed at which Mental State decreases.
This help can not be obtained for the Golden Core Breakthrough.
