Inspiration is the Xiandao counterpart to Belief, accumulated through Cultivation and Adventuring. It is used to learn Manuals from a character's cultivated law, from other laws through the Manual Pavilions, or to increase skill levels of Alchemy, Artifact Mastery, Artifact Crafting, Spell, Protect and Formation.

Inspiration Cost[]

The amount of inspiration required is heavily dependent on the increase in Attainment they give, as well as the total amount of Attainment the cultivator already has.

Base Formula[]

Whether it's for a Manual or a Skill, the base cost will be[1]: , where:

  • is either the Manual's Attainment cost after taking into account Elemental Interactions or the Skill's Attainment cost
  • is the True Attainment of the cultivator, taking into account equipped items and talismans and learned manuals. If the cultivator is practicing Law of Nimbus Conquest and a Manual of a Yin (Water, Metal) or Yang (Fire, Wood) element is learned, their Attainment of Yin or Yang is used instead[1].
  • corresponds to the "Inspiration Cost" difficulty setting:
    • Very Low: 0.5
    • Low (base difficulty): 0.75
    • Ordinary (base immortal difficulty): 1
  • is 1 base, down to 0.8 (corresponding to 20% reduction), as detailed in Transcribed Manuals Reduction below.

The cultivator's Attainment can be reduced, for example by using Spirit Relics or Sub-Spirit Gear. Negative values of Attainment result in the Attainment being counted as zero for the purposes of Inspiration cost.

Manual Inspiration cost[]

Manuals have an additional multiplier, so the formula is , where depends on how the manual is learned:

  • 1 or base cost when learning from the inspiration tree
  • 0.75 or 25% reduction when learning from the Manual Pavilion
  • 0.75 or 25% reduction when taught by a Mentor to a non-disciple
  • 0.5 or 50% reduction when taught by a Mentor to one of their own disciples

Skill inspiration cost[]

Skills also have a separate multiplier, so the formula is , where refers to the Skill Affinity the cultivator has with the skill[2]:

  • 1 for a skill neither liked (*) nor loved (**)
  • 0.71 or 29% reduction if the skill is liked (*)
  • 0.33 or 67% reduction is the skill is loved (**)

Transcribed Manuals Reduction[]

The total Attainment of transcribed Manuals in the Sect's Manual Pavilions lowers the Inspiration needed for all Inspiration costs, including learning Skills[3], multiplicative with other reductions (if any).

  • Up to 20,000 transcribed Attainment, the discount is %.
  • at At 20,000 or higher Attainment, 20% discount.

Calculation examples[]

Click to open
A cultivator:
  • with a  Metal Law
  • with 60 base attainment
  • with a  Tiger King's Bone (+22.5 Attainment) equipped
  • in a sect with 5,000 transcribed attainment
  • playing in Low (base) difficulty

so:

CultivatorAttainment = 60 [base attainment] + 22.5 [Tiger King's bone] = 82 [rounding down]
TranscribedManualsReduction = 5,000/1,000 = 5% reduction = 0.95
when learning a Manual:
  • of  Wood Element
  • with a base attainment cost of 5
  • from the Manual Pavilion

will pay:

ManualAttainmentCost = 5 [base] * 3 [weakening element] = 15
15 [ManualAttainmentCost] * [400 + 2 * (82 [CultivatorAttainment])^2] * 0.95 [TranscribedManualsReduction] * 0.75 [Difficulty setting] * 0.75 [Manual Pavilion] = 111,000 inspiration
when learning a level of Protect:
  • while liking (*) the skill
  • with a skill level of 7, so a cost of 2 attainment

will pay:

2 [SkillAttainmentCost] * [400 + 2 * (82 [CultivatorAttainment])^2] * 0.95 [TranscribedManualsReduction] * 0.75 [Difficulty setting] * 0.71 [Liked Skill] = 14,011 inspiration

Inspiration gain multipliers[]

When gaining Inspiration from any means other than Agencies or Rebirth, the base value is multiplied by the Mental State multiplier listed below and the Learning Speed.[4] This doesn't apply to inspiration earned from sources which have the immediate variable set to True[5].

Mental State Multiplier
>= <
95 2
85 95 1.5
70 85 1.2
50 70 1
30 50 0.4
30 0.1

For example, a Character with 150% Learning Speed and 95 Mental State will receive 3 times the base Inspiration from regular sources, such as 450,000 from a T9  Eureka Pill.

Sources[]

The main source of inspiration early on is from transcribing Laws and adventuring to agencies. Later on, players can find sources of  Eureka Pill as well.

Adventures[]

  • Accrued over time in Agencies as Belief, will be converted to Inspiration if adventured to by a Xiandao cultivator. This rate will go up based on the stability and amount of followers at the location. Caps at 20m at maximum agency size.
  • Secrets on the map[6]

Transcribing Laws and Manuals[]

Transcribing Laws and Manuals into a Manual Pavilion will add inspiration depending on the Cultivation Level and the Intelligence of the transcriber[7]. Transcribing the five Taiyi Laws obtained from the Return to Taiyi Secret is an easy way to obtain a large amount of Inspiration early game.

Transcribing a Manual will add a base inspiration of , whereas transcribing a law will add base inspiration, where SumAttainmentCost is the sum of the attainment cost of all (transcribable) new manuals contained in the law. This sum is the "Capacity" cost for transcribing the law so it can be seen in-game before transcribing.
