When starting a new game in Classic, you will be prompted to pick starting experiences (also called perks).

In-code perks are always called experiences, and nothing else.
Perk selection[]
Your first disciple in the list can select Perks (also called experiences). Perks can change the law you start with, give items, change the amount of initial disciples, or change the stats on the first disciple in the list.
Perks can be grouped into five types:
- Initial Law
- Looted Valuables
- Disciple Count
- Stand-alone
- Hidden
The list of available Perks is different for Yaoguai and Humans. Reincarnated Disciples have previously assigned Perks, which can't be changed during Character Creation.
Initial Law[]
These perks change the Law you start out with. You can only select up to one of these. If a law isn't selected, either by not picking one or choosing Casual Cultivator, a law will be randomly assigned at start, chosen from the five basic Taiyi Laws.

With the exception of the Yaoguai perk (Intelligent Beast), these perks are hidden during character creation. They are used with reincarnated disciples, and will show up for the pre-defined ones.
