Alignment (or Good Or Evil) is the moral system for Factions/Sects. It consists broadly speaking of Good and Evil, under which all NPC Factions fall, as well as 'None' (#Unknown/#Controversial). Sects belonging to opposite sides of Alignment have low Favor with each other, are openly hostile to one another. In the case of the player Sect, they will refuse to Trade.
Note: Not to be confused with Virtue/Condemnation, which are an equivalent moral system for individual characters.
Game Terminology[]
Good Or Evil[]
Good Or Evil is the in-game reference to the Alignment system.
Good[]
Evil[]
None[]
The game translates the mechanic to "Good Or Evil" in English, and all NPC Factions fall under these directives. The player has the third option of neutrality (None):
- Unknown - both Good and Evil being lower than 300
- Controversial - both Good and Evil being 300 or higher
Advantages[]
The biggest advantage of 'None' is that Sects of both Alignments have no moral obstacles in Trading and other amicable interaction with the player.
Controversial[]
Lock[]
Reaching Controversial puts the player Sect in an deadlock, with subsequent actions and cumulative Alignment score changes having no effect on Alignment or gameplay. See: #Better Alignment
Alignment Table[]
State of Alignment is calculated based on the scores of Good and Evil Alignment.[1]
- Good Alignment Type: Evil Sects refuse to trade and consider the player an enemy.
- Evil Alignment Type: Good Sects refuse to trade and consider the player an enemy.

---|---|---|---|
<300 | <300 | None | Unknown |

Mods[]
Better Alignment[]
Better Alignment (Mod) by Fasgort, fixes the illogical, though desired by many, in-game function of being "locked in Controversial".
- Lower than 500 points total: Unknown
- Tiers of good and evil: when one side is higher than 2/5/9 times the other side
- In any other case, true neutral: Controversial
